10 Minimal Prep Porcelain Veneers
This beautiful young lady was planning her wedding. She wanted to know what could be done for her smile before her wedding which was several weeks away.
Enamel Hypoplasia and Hypominerlization
This patient suffered with enamel defects which cause a number of issues in the tooth development. It causes discoloration of the teeth making some teeth darker and others to have white spots. It can cause your tooth surface to be uneven and create sensitivity in your teeth among other concerns.
It’s not uncommon that resin composite material be used to even out the surfaces of the teeth and to create some amount of uniformity. Resin composite is applied in a bulkier manner to mask the darker shades of the teeth. The downside to this approach is that the resin composite stains in a matter of time and the material is susceptible to chipping. Over time, the process has to be repeated. Composite material itself is typically more dull and opaque and doesn’t look like natural pearly teeth.
Treatment for Enamel Defects
We removed the resin composite and did a professional in-office whitening treatment of her lower arch to brighten her natural teeth. We did very little contouring of her natural teeth and added 10 porcelain veneers on her upper arch. By doing this, we addressed all the teeth that showed when she smiled and you can see the dramatic difference in the before and afters.
She had the gorgeous smile she wanted just in time for her wedding.
