Flared Teeth, Crowding and Uneven Smile

We were so glad this patient came to see us for his treatment.

From a dental health perspective, we needed to correct his crowded teeth, deep bite and overjet.  Because misaligned teeth create areas that are hard to reach and keep clean, we were concerned with gum inflammation.  Not to mention, misaligned teeth can cause premature wear on the tooth surface, leading to other complications down the road.

Looking at his smile from a cosmetic viewpoint, we wanted to address the overjet of his front teeth, more commonly known as flared teeth. You can see in the before photo that he also had bonding that was dark and discolored.

Treatment for Flared Teeth

Another dentist might have shaved down this patient’s front teeth and placed crowns or veneers.  However, we wanted to take a conservative approach, supporting his dental and gum health for the long haul, while maintaining his natural teeth.  We recommended Invisalign to move his teeth into place and to align his upper and lower arches into their correct position.  By doing this, we were able to make significant improvements in his smile and correct his flared teeth.  He used professional strength whitening gel in his aligners to whiten his teeth.  In the after photos, you can see the amazing difference we made by moving his teeth into alignment and brightening his smile with whitening gel.

The last step in this patient’s treatment was removing the old discolored bonding.  Here were were conservative that we didn’t remove more than necessary.  We placed porcelain crowns on his 2 front teeth that matched to his other teeth.  Not only is his smile healthier, it looks very natural and brighter.
