If you have been told you need a deep cleaning (or scaling and root planing), there are alternative treatments for gingivitis and periodontal disease (gum disease). At Intown Smile Studio, we use specialized trays that fit over your teeth and gums. The trays are FDA-approved and have the ability to force oxygen deep into your gum pockets (as deep as 10-11mm). The oxygen kills the bacterial infection in the deep pockets, so you will no longer fight periodontal infection and your body can heal itself. When the gum pockets heal, they can return to the healthier measurements (ones, twos and threes). At Intown Smile Studio, most patients choose this treatment over a deep cleaning because it is more comfortable, effective, preventive and minimally-invasive.
This patient came to us because she was told by her former dentist that she needed invasive treatment for her gums. After discovering that we provide alternative treatments that were not invasive, she was excited and happy. Her gums and mouth feel much better!
