Our bodies naturally produce collagen. It plumps up the skin and keeps skin texture youthful. Collagen gives us that youthful appearance. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen and we start seeing signs of wrinkles and deep lines.
PDO threads are solid thread fillers that help to plump up the skin and smooth out lines. They are FDA approved and considered non-invasive. They’ve been around and used in other areas of medicine for quite some time. In recent years, PDO threads have become more popular in facial esthetics as an anti-aging treatment. The threads slowly dissolve over time while encouraging collagen production. The threads typically dissolve within 6 to 9 months, depending upon the individual. However, the effects of the threads can last up to 2 years because the body replaces the threads with collagen.
As we mentioned earlier, PDO threads lift, diminish lines, smooth out skin texture and help your body to produce collagen over time. There are several types of PDO threads used for different areas for the face and neck. PDO threads are used in many areas of the body. However, Dr. Estep focuses her attention on facial esthetic treatments.

For the patient below, we used a combination of lip fillers and PDO threads for lip enhancement.
In the Before lip fillers and threads, you can see that her upper lip has less volume than the lower lip. The patient wanted more volume on the upper lip and more rise in the cupids bow area.
In the After lip fillers and threads, you can see subtle volume and line definition with fillers. By adding the PDO collagen threads at the vertical column lines, we created more definition in her cupid’s bow area. We used lifting threads in the columns to define and add lift to the upper lip. The result is volume and lift while maintaining natural looking lips.
