Dental insurance benefits can be a challenge to interpret and understand. There are so many carriers, that offer a multitude of plans and subplans with a lot of fine print, disclaimers, and exclusions that don’t arise when you’re signing up for your dental plan. That’s where we come in.
As a benefit to our patients, our practice accepts the majority of dental PPO and POS insurance plans out-of-network, except Delta Dental Plans outside of Georgia. Most PPO and POS plans have out-of-network benefits that allows the patient flexibility in their choice of provider. Our goal is to help you maximize and use your dental benefits. Most Delta Dental plans outside of Georgia will not reimburse/pay out of state, out of network dentists. For that reason, the patient is responsible for paying in full at the time of treatment. We will file your Delta Dental claims and assist in getting you paid.
Having been a previous in network provider, Dr. Estep found it limited her scope of practice. Being limited changed the focus of her practice and the care she wanted to provide. At Intown Smile Studio, we provide a high standard of care that we believe in, while at the same time using your dental benefit towards your care. We will verify, process, and submit your dental claims per your particular plan. When we provide treatment, we estimate what your insurance will pay toward your treatment and your estimated responsibility; this is determined by the benefits breakdown provided by your carrier.
The fees we charge to those patients with dental benefits are the usual and customary fees charged to all our patients for similar services. We keep our fees fair and competitive regardless of dental benefit coverage. By doing this, we have found that many of the carriers cover our out of network fees as estimated. Because your dental policy is an agreement between you and your insurance company, each patient is responsible for his/her total obligation should your insurance benefits result in less coverage than anticipated. Also, patients should be aware that some carriers will process claims promptly while others may take several months — that’s all dependent upon the insurance company’s internal review and processing guidelines.
