Minimally Invasive Dentistry means doing the least amount of damage to your existing teeth in order to repair and improve them.  For you, that means fewer visits, less drilling, less discomfort, and a stronger, better-looking, longer-lasting result.  Dr. Estep calls it “new-school” dentistry.  Dr. Estep has spent her career attending top post-graduate continuing education programs all the while researching the newest advances in technology.  This gives her and her Intown Smile Studio team the ability to deliver the very best in dentistry to every patient.

Here are some examples of how Intown Smile Studio uses Minimally Invasive Dentistry every day:

No-Prep Veneers

As the name suggests, no-prep porcelain veneers are an alternative to traditional porcelain veneers.  Porcelain veneers are placed over your natural teeth to improve the appearance of your teeth and enhance your smile. No Prep Veneers  The standard procedure requires a dentist to drill down your natural teeth in order to place the porcelain veneers on your teeth.  Today, this is what most dental offices do to teeth for a porcelain veneers procedure.  No-prep veneers allow a skilled cosmetic dentist to achieve the same (and often even better) result without having to drill your teeth down.  No-prep veneers are an option for many people looking to improve their smiles, however these people are often told they are not candidates for no-prep veneers.  No-prep veneers is a new technique that requires real commitment from your dentist —  he or she must develop brand new skills requiring more precision, more time, and new materials.  Dr. Estep’s training and experience delivering no-prep veneers allows her to offer this treatment to many patients (even many who were once told they’re not candidates).  Contact Dr. Estep to schedule a consultation (or 2nd opinion) to see if you are a candidate for no-prep veneers.

Reverse Cavities

Products to Reverse CavitiesIntown Smile Studio is one of a handful of practices in the nation working to reverse cavities in kids and adults.  If you have a small cavity and Dr. Estep catches it early enough, you can treat the cavity with a customized array of rinses, special toothpaste, gums and candies (yes…gum and candy!).  You can actually reverse the cavity by causing your enamel to regrow.  Dr. Estep frequently treats small cavities this way instead of drilling and filling teeth.  Early detection of cavities is the key to this treatment.  That’s why Dr. Estep wants to see you for regular healthy visits.  She practices progressive and preventive dentistry so that you can receive these (and more) benefits.

Alternative Treatments for Gum Disease

Alternative Treatment Gum Disease (Perio Protect)If you have ever had a deep-cleaning, you will be happy to know there are now gentle alternatives to treat gum disease.  At Intown Smile Studio we offer treatment alternatives for gum disease including Perio Protect.  Perio Protect is a set of trays you wear over your teeth.  The patented design of the trays forces oxygen to travel to the deep pockets in your gums.  The oxygen kills the pathogens that cause gum disease.  Once the pathogens are obliterated, your gums have the ability to heal in the absence of the infection.

Porcelain Fillings instead of Crowns (Caps)

Typically, when you have a big cavity or a cracked tooth, the dentist uses a crown (cap) to repair your tooth.  Before placing the cap, your dentist has to grind your tooth down to a nub in order to fit the crown over your tooth.  This “old school” practice can largely be avoided now thanks to smaller, stronger porcelain fillings.  Using porcelain fillings, Dr. Estep removes just the unhealthy tooth structure or the decay.  Then she places the porcelain filling to restore and re-strengthen your tooth.

Intown Smile Studio embraces Minimally Invasive Dentistry in every way possible.  We keep our finger on the pulse of this advancing technology so that we can continue to bring you and your family “new school” treatment options.
